The Opportunity
  • Fleet Mechanic at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company
  • Work with a cohesive team to serve a small community
  • Reporting to the Trucking Supervisor, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of light and heavy-duty equipment, facilities and vehicles, ensuring that the company receives high quality repairs.


Key activities include:
  • Test, Service, and Repair Vehicles and Equipment Operate diagnostic instruments, hand, electric, and air driven tools
  • Repair brakes, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, air, exhaust, and chassis
  • Provide emergency field assistance and repair to disabled equipment and vehicles
  • Cut and weld metal; fabricate parts, frames, and related items
  • Perform body repair and related work or arrange to send out
  • Manage Fleet Maintenance System tracking trucking fleet, paperless DVIR's, schedule preventative maintenance & inspections to ultimately reduce downtime and lower costs.
  • Provide Preventive Maintenance
  • Test and adjust or replace parts
  • Schedule preventive maintenance
  • Analyze and inspect equipment and vehicles
  • Determine most cost-effective maintenance or repair
  • Purchase parts and supplies for repair and maintenance
  • Assist in budget development to provide adequate inventory
  • Assist preparation of bid specifications for vehicles and equipment
  • Provide technical support to staff members and contractors
  • Fill out daily summary reports, work order and repair orders
  • Fosters trusting relationships with co-workers and cross-functional work areas

  • Work reasonable overtime as required to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to travel and perform work on neighbor islands assigned
  • Member of Emergency Response Team for spill drills, releases and vehicle accidents
  • Follows, maintains and adheres to all safety rules and regulations for ships, loading docks, customer premises, traffic laws, rules and DOT regulations. Follows all environmental procedures and reports all safety and environmental incidents and concerns immediately to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required and requested.

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Additional qualifications include:
  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Trade education specializing in heavy truck, automotive and/or equipment repair preferred
  • Journey level mechanic preferred
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Heavy Truck and Trailer maintenance, and repairs on gas and diesel engines, transmission, hydraulics, valves and welding.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License with acceptable Driver's Abstract
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Computer knowledge required, Proficient in word, excel, and truck engine ECM scanning.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Able to work with power tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and with situations that involve customers, operations, and emergencies.
  • Good communication skills, ability to work with deadlines, organizational ability and problem solving.

Hiring Range:

The pay rate for this position is $75,000 - $94,000 per year plus non-discretionary bonus.
