About Papillon Media Group

Papillon Media Group is an emerging entertainment company at the intersection of music, film, and technology.

We develop and distribute original film and digital entertainment content, while discovering, developing, and elevating music artists and building a next-generation digital platform that connects creators and audiences in one seamless experience.

Our platform is designed to do more than stream — it connects. By bringing together compelling storytelling, artist discovery and development, and innovative technology, we're creating new ways for audiences to engage with the content and artists they love, while giving creators greater opportunities to grow, monetize, and build lasting careers.

About the Role

We're seeking an entrepreneurial, hands-on Head of Public Relations & Communications to build Papillon's external voice, media presence, and reputation strategy from the ground up — spanning our digital platform, film and digital entertainment releases, and the music artists we work with. This is a foundational hire: equally comfortable setting long-term communications strategy and managing day-to-day press relationships, ideal for a builder who can create a high-performing communications function from scratch rather than manage an existing one.

Key Responsibilities

•   Media Relations & Press Strategy: Build and manage relationships with entertainment, music, film, technology, and business press; secure and manage press coverage across Papillon's platform, artists, and content.

•   Corporate Communications: Own company announcements, executive communications, and messaging across major milestones — platform launch, funding, partnerships, artist signings, and film releases.

•   Crisis & Reputation Management: Develop and lead crisis communications protocols, protecting and managing Papillon's reputation across the company, its executives, and its artists.

•   Artist & Talent PR: Lead publicity strategy and media opportunities for Papillon's artists and film talent, building artist narratives and coordinating closely with Marketing on integrated campaigns.

•   Launch & Event Publicity: Develop and execute publicity strategies around major launches, premieres, screenings, artist releases, live events, and cultural moments to maximize media visibility and audience awareness.

•   Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership: Position the CEO and executive team as credible voices in entertainment, technology, and music/film industry conversations, including speaking opportunities, bylines, and interviews.

•   Content & Messaging: Develop key messaging, press materials, talking points, and narrative frameworks that support brand and business priorities.

•   Agency & Vendor Management: Select and manage PR agency partners, freelance publicists, and media relationships as the function scales.

•   Executive Leadership: Serve as the company's senior communications advisor, briefing the CEO, executive leadership, and Board on reputation, messaging, and public narrative.

What Success Looks Like

•   Consistent, credible media coverage of Papillon across entertainment and business press

•   A clear, tested crisis-communications protocol in place before it's needed

•   Growing press visibility for signed artists and film releases, coordinated closely with Marketing

•   The CEO and executive team recognized as credible voices in entertainment and technology

•   A repeatable communications playbook for major company milestones and announcements

•   A communications function with clear measurement of coverage quality, reach, and reputation impact

What We're Looking For

•   8–12 years of progressive PR and communications leadership, with significant experience in entertainment, media, music, film, or other culturally relevant consumer businesses

•   Existing relationships with entertainment, music, film, and business press — an active network of media contacts is required, not just experience building one

•   Demonstrated experience building media relationships and securing press coverage for a growing or scaling company

•   Experience developing and leading crisis communications and reputation management

•   Strong writing and messaging skills, with experience developing executive communications and press materials

•   Entrepreneurial, builder mindset — comfortable operating with speed, resourcefulness, and discipline in an early-stage environment

•   Experience leading publicity for artists, talent, film, music, or other entertainment properties required

•   Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field preferred, or equivalent significant communications leadership experience

What We Offer

•   Executive Compensation: Competitive base salary and performance-based bonus.

•   Equity Opportunity: Meaningful opportunity to participate in the long-term growth and value creation of Papillon Media Group.

•   Foundational Leadership Role: The opportunity to build Papillon's communications and public narrative from the ground up.

•   Executive Influence: A seat at the leadership table with significant influence over Papillon's public voice, reputation, and long-term narrative.

•   Build Your Team: The opportunity to shape and build the communications function and its agency and press ecosystem.

•   Industry Impact: An opportunity to help redefine how audiences discover and experience film, music, artists, and digital entertainment.

•   Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance.

•   Flexible Work Environment: Hybrid/flexible work environment with collaboration at our New Jersey headquarters.

If you're a communications leader who wants to build the voice and reputation of a company redefining entertainment — we'd like to hear from you.
