Reports to: Vice President, Operational Excellence and Revenue Cycle Optimization

Purpose  

The Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement will drive strategy and lead a small team (2–3 direct reports) focused on driving sustainable improvements across our organization. This role will champion a Lean Six Sigma–inspired approach tailored to our culture—prioritizing swift issue resolution, identifying root causes, and determining where long-term solutions create the most value. The Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement, will have a hands-on leading approach, and will need to balance strategy and execution, partner across departments, and embed process disciplines that deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and executes the overall continuous improvement strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and operational excellence across all teams.
  • Identifies where immediate fixes are sufficient vs. where deeper root cause remediation is required.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Leads, coaches, and develops a team of 2–3 continuous improvement professionals.
  • Provides mentorship in structured problem-solving tools and methods.
  • Sets priorities, tracks progress and measures the impact of improvement efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partners with Clinical, Quality, IT, Operations, and Program Management to align priorities.
  • Facilitates structured problem-solving workshops and Kaizen events.
  • Ensures learning from issues are shared and implemented across the organization to prevent recurrence.

Problem-Solving & Analytics

  • Applies Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA, and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams).
  • Analyzes and interpret data to identify trends, evaluate solutions, and measure impact.
  • Utilizes reporting tools (Excel, BI dashboards, etc.) to track progress and communicate outcomes.

Reporting & Communication

  • Develops and delivers regular updates to leadership on progress, value creation, and emerging risks.
  • Escalates issues as needed and recommends solutions that balance speed, sustainability, and value.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, or related roles.
  • Prior healthcare, pharmacy, or highly regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional improvement efforts that delivered measurable results.
  • Strong familiarity with or certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies; Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and change management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage direct reports and foster a high-performance team environment.
  • Skilled in project/program management with a track record of driving initiatives to closure.

Work Environment 

This job operates in a home office and professional office environment. When in-office this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and communications via MS Teams. 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data on a screen.
