The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist/R&D Engineer to join our interdisciplinary team focused on the development and scale-up of microneedle array patch (MAP) technologies. This role will support the innovation, optimization, and implementation of novel manufacturing methods while conducting analytical testing to evaluate quality, performance, and reproducibility.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in chemistry, materials science, biomedical/chemical engineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience in laboratory-scale process development and analytical techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Development
- Develop and optimize novel manufacturing processes, including mold casting, drying, curing, and sterilization techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scale-up activities from lab to pilot scale.
- Assist senior team members with daily tasks.
- Conduct mechanical testing and dimensional analysis on MNA patches.
- Perform chemical or biochemical assays to evaluate content uniformity, stability, or degradation
- Document and interpret data to assess impact of manufacturing changes on product quality.
- Maintain accurate and organized lab notebooks, batch records, and process documentation.
- Contribute to the drafting of SOPs, technical reports, and regulatory submission materials as needed.
- Adhere to internal quality and safety standards.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and organization
- Order and track all purchases while working with vendors and representatives for pricing
- B.S. or M.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 0–3 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment (academia, industry, or internship). Familiarity with polymeric materials, hydrogels, microneedles, or drug delivery systems is highly preferred.
- Experience with analytical tools such as microscopy, mechanical testers, HPLC, or spectroscopy.
- Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with process validation or GMP/GxP environments.
- Experience with protein-based systems or biologic drug delivery, with a preference for those skilled in HPLC and Mass spectrometry.
- Understanding of sterilization techniques.
