Coordinates network cable installation, network system planning, installing, monitoring, testing and servicing. Implements solutions to help maintain and monitor network security. Monitors and troubleshoots network performance. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirements.

Job Duties
- Maintain existing network infrastructures to include disaster recovery testing as well as performance monitoring.
- Establishes and maintains network performance through building system configurations and connections.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems.
- Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Responsible for highly complex technical computer and/or security hardware, software, and access control projects involving research and/or design support for Plant, DOE, vendors, design agencies, and other agencies.
- Supports professional personnel working on other assigned projects as required.
- Performs evaluations to determine the effectiveness of software packages, hardware requirements, and/or security products that may be used in the development of, or provide security for, technical Plant computer systems.
- Coordinates research and/or design projects to accomplish assigned responsibilities within quality, quantity, time and resource requirements.
- Develops and implements infrastructure designs, and or complex access control mechanisms directed toward improving efficiency, security, and/or general utilization of the computing environment.
- Audits results of computer research and design projects, prepares or reviews written reports and makes recommendations for use by management and other agency representatives.
- Maintains current knowledge of highly advanced technical systems to ensure application of new methods and operating procedures.
- Accountable for all direct output assigned and for providing direct output support to his/her manager.
- Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.

- Knowledge and understanding of computer networking and physical security principles.
- Ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of wide scope and complexity.
- Ability to present technical and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word.
- Cisco networking certifications preferred. Must be fluent with Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, D-Link switches, and Microchip SyncServers.

- BS in engineering/science discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical engineering/science experience ranging from 3 to 7 years.
- OR applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience
- Knowledge of computing infrastructures
- Familiarity with server management and monitoring tools
- Proficiency with scripting languages
- Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts
