What You'll Do

This position oversees key aspects of the Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) Program to ensure compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) directives. Under DOE O 474.2A, the role has primary responsibility for managing accountability, inventory, and material control. Under DOE O 410.2 (Management of Nuclear Materials), duties include leading item-level accountability, sealed source tracking, and coordinating the annual Nuclear Material Inventory Assessment (NMIA) report.

Additionally, the role assists with procedure development, review, and approval, supports departmental change management, and assists with sub-contracts (including STR duties). To support the NMC&A accounting section, the position requires working toward earning a Nuclear Material Representative (NMR) qualification. Other responsibilities include executing software quality assurance (SQA) change packages, interfacing with external assessment organizations, and resolving program anomalies. The primary duty consists of office-based, non-manual work directly related to general business operations, requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
  • Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • OR applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709. Medical requirements may apply.
