What You'll Do
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability, and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system products, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

- Implementing Department of Energy (DOE) requirements for electrical equipment used in hazardous areas through analysis, documentation, and configuration management of proposed equipment
- Characterizing electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic radiation (EMR), and lightning hazards to sensitive electronic components
- Developing mitigating controls to reduce or eliminate hazards in order to support plant operations

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
- OR a Master's degree in an engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
- OR a PhD in an engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
- There is a minimum GPA requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript
- Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. - Bachelor's degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics
- Use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
- Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment
- Ability to evaluate and provide feedback on new and proposed revisions to technical operating procedures, design drawings and requirements, and facility systems, structures, and components
- Able to make informed decisions and support those decisions to peers and senior management
