What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Pansy Homecare?
Who we are
Pansy Homecare is a dementia-focused home care agency in Connecticut. Families come to us when memory loss makes life at home hard. We match them with caregivers trained for dementia and build a real plan around the person. Referral partners trust us with their hardest cases. We want someone who is proud to sell that.
The job
You will own New Haven County. You will build relationships with discharge planners, social workers, care managers, assisted living and memory care teams, elder law attorneys, and physician offices. Then you turn those relationships into new clients.
- Visit about 40 referral partners a week, face to face.
- Build new relationships and grow the ones we already have.
- Respond fast when a referral comes in.
- Meet families in their homes, complete assessments, and sign start agreements. We train you on this.
- Represent Pansy at community events, about 1-2 evenings a week and one weekend a month.
- Track your activity and results in our CRM.
- Work with the Director of Sales on your territory plan and weekly numbers.
Two ways in
We hire from two backgrounds.
- Sales: You have 2 years in outside, territory, or field sales. Home care, hospice, senior living, DME, or medical sales is a plus, not a must.
- Healthcare: You are a nurse, social worker, care manager, discharge planner, admissions coordinator, or liaison. You know how referrals really work, and you are ready to grow into business development.
What you bring
- You create opportunities without waiting to be told.
- You can name specific results: referrals, clients, admissions, deals, or goals you hit.
- You hear "no" and follow up anyway.
- You like being measured and held to weekly activity goals.
- You are honest about what you know and what you don't.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Relationships in New Haven County are a plus, not a must.
Your first 90 days
You will be in the field within your first two weeks, and you will keep learning for your whole first 90 days.
- Weeks 1-2, learn Pansy: Go through our Dementia Experience, shadow our Director of Sales and team, and ride along on field visits. You finish with a short presentation to the team and your list of top 20 referral targets.
- Weeks 3-4, half field, half learning: Make your first visits on your own, practice with role plays, and shadow a family assessment. By week 4, you are building rapport with 3-5 key referral sources and have attended your first networking event.
- Days 31-60, mostly in the field: Learn our intake, assessment, and start process. Start at 32 face-to-face visits a week and build up to our standard of 40. Bring in your first referrals.
- Days 61-90, own your territory: Steady weekly activity, growing referral relationships, and your first new clients.
Why Pansy
You will sell something that changes how a family gets through dementia. You will own your territory, see your results every week, and earn more as you bring in more families.
