Ultrasound Technician works directly with patients and physicians and operates equipment that uses high-frequency soundwaves to take images and scans of the body's internal organs.
Responsibilities include:
- Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
- Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
- Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
- Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results.
- Explains ultrasound equipment and procedures to patients.
- Prepares ultrasound equipment and exam rooms for examinations.
- Adheres to HIPPA requirements, including strict confidentiality of patient information and testing.
- Alerts referring medical staff of any abnormalities that require immediate attention.
- Operates equipment under authorized diagnostic approaches and practices.
- Problem-solves and makes decisions regarding patient testing.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Qualifications:
- 2-year Allied Health degree.
- Successful completion of an approved 1-year program in Ultrasound Technology.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the field.
