Registered Nurse (RN) – Ambulatory Surgery Center

Peoria, Arizona | Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ambulatory surgery center in Peoria, AZ. This is a safety-sensitive clinical role providing direct patient care throughout the pre-operative, procedure, and recovery process.

The ideal candidate is a confident RN with experience in an ambulatory surgery center, outpatient surgery, or medical-surgical environment who is comfortable working in a fast-paced procedural setting and collaborating closely with physicians and the clinical team.

You'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate, and efficient care from arrival through discharge.

What You'll Do

Pre-Operative & Patient Care

  • Complete comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, including intake, medical history, medication review, and clinical documentation.

  • Establish IV access, perform lab draws, and complete point-of-care testing as indicated.

  • Obtain and monitor vital signs, including HR, BP, O2 saturation, and EKG.

  • Communicate relevant patient information to physicians and the clinical team before, during, and after procedures.

  • Monitor patient condition and promptly identify and communicate changes in clinical status.

  • Administer oral and IV medications, including pain medication and sedation, as ordered.

  • Monitor and document patient response to medications and treatment.

Procedural & Intra-Operative Support

  • Prepare procedure rooms and assist the clinical team with patient positioning and procedural needs.

  • Maintain appropriate sterile technique and infection-control practices.

  • Provide nursing support throughout procedures and anticipate the needs of the physician and clinical team.

  • Maintain appropriate radiation safety practices when a C-Arm is utilized.

  • Monitor patients continuously throughout procedures and provide timely clinical updates.

Post-Procedure & Recovery

  • Monitor patients during recovery following procedures and sedation.

  • Perform post-sedation assessments, vital-sign monitoring, and required documentation.

  • Assess patients prior to discharge and provide appropriate discharge instructions.

  • Ensure patients are stable and meet established discharge criteria.

  • Communicate post-procedure information and follow-up needs to patients, physicians, and other members of the care team.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely patient records in the electronic and/or paper medical record.

  • Maintain accurate narcotic and prescription drug logs and assist with medication inventory management.

  • Follow all applicable OSHA, Federal, State, CMS, The Joint Commission, and radiation safety requirements.

  • Follow center policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards.

  • Complete opening and closing responsibilities in accordance with center protocols.

  • Communicate with dialysis facilities regarding post-procedure care and follow-up as directed by the Clinic Manager or physician.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with applicable state law.

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical RN experience.

  • Experience in one or more of the following settings is required:

    • Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

    • Outpatient surgery/procedural environment

    • Medical-surgical nursing

    • Critical care

Preferred

  • Previous ASC or outpatient procedural nursing experience.

  • Experience caring for patients receiving sedation.

  • Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

  • Experience establishing IV access and performing point-of-care testing.

  • Experience with C-Arm/radiation safety protocols.

  • Dialysis, vascular access, nephrology, or interventional procedure experience.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and medication/narcotic documentation.
