Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine acuity levels.
- Deliver emergency interventions such as airway management, IV infusion, suturing, and acute pain management with precision and confidence.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Truebridge to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, radiology staff, laboratory personnel, and specialists in trauma medicine, cardiology, infectious disease care, and more.
- Manage triage processes to prioritize patient flow based on severity of condition, ensuring rapid response for Level I Trauma Center cases or critical emergencies.
- Administer medications including injections and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-acute care options including hospice & palliative medicine or geriatrics.
- Maintain compliance with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Assist in infection control practices and specimen collection/processing to uphold hospital standards of safety and quality.
Skills
- Proven experience in emergency room settings with exposure to Level II or Level I trauma centers preferred.
- Strong knowledge of critical care procedures including ICU experience, trauma medicine, cardiac catheterization, and infectious disease care.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Truebridge; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform advanced skills like suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, aseptic technique, airway management, and IV insertion confidently.
- Excellent patient assessment capabilities with a solid understanding of physiology and anatomy knowledge necessary for acute care scenarios.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; familiarity with medical documentation standards is essential.
- Strong communication skills for effective case management and interdisciplinary collaboration in high-pressure environments.
