What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intellectual Property Legal Assistant position at Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP?
Fully Remote with the option to work in-office or hybrid in Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, or Alexandria, VA if so desired. Must reside in the Mid-Atlanic region (NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DE, VA, DC).
GENERAL SUMMARY
Assist attorneys and agents with patent prosecution and IP transactional matters.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Work independently to manage docket and ensure attorneys can meet all deadlines. Regularly update docketing department regarding actions taken.
- Prepare patent applications and prosecution documents including, but not limited to, amendments, responses, communications, Information Disclosure Statements and appropriate transmittal forms during all stages of patent prosecution.
- Prepare and file applications and USPTO correspondence via EFS Web.
- Prepare client matter request forms for new cases, follow up to ensure signed Engagement Letters are received.
- Correspond with US and foreign clients and foreign associates re: routine prosecution issues, acknowledging correspondence received and reviewing documents received for completeness.
- Prepare manual invoices to send to clients and associates.
- Draft email correspondence to be revised and sent by the attorney.
- Utilize IPDAS software to generate prosecution documents and manage prior art.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience.
- Experience with US patent application filing process.
- Proficiency in document management systems and automated docketing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Client driven team player with strong customer service orientation.
- Able to operate general office equipment such as laptop computers, calculators, and printers.
