Panino's is an upscale casual Italian inspired restaurant and bar in North Oaks, Minnesota. We are a neighborhood favorite, and have been in the same location for 25 years.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist the Executive Chef in the leadership & daily operation of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. The Sous Chef will play a key role in menu planning, staff management, and inventory control, contributing to a dynamic and creative kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Kitchen Operations:
- Support the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring efficient and smooth service.
- Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate their tasks to ensure timely and high-quality food preparation.
- Manage kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Menu Planning and Food Preparation:
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement creative and appealing menus.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipe and presentation standards.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of all food items, ensuring freshness and consistency.
- Staff Management and Training:
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
- Assist in scheduling and managing kitchen staff to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Inventory and Cost Control:
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure adequate stock.
- Manage food costs and minimize waste by implementing effective inventory control measures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper storage and handling of food items.
- Quality Control and Hygiene:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
- Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and food preparation areas to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with guests as needed to ensure their satisfaction and address any concerns.
- Assist in special events and catering services as required.
- Uphold the restaurant’s reputation for exceptional food and service.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant.
- Culinary degree or equivalent training and experience.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques and trends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
