Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Shipping/Receiving Coordinator to join our logistics team. In this role, you will perform physical and clerical tasks in connection with receiving deliveries and some outgoing shipments; light maintenance and custodial duties as needed. Good multi-tasking skills and ability to handle a busy and demanding office. Well organized, takes initiative, strong sense of responsibility and reliable attendance. Safety is always a priority. This position is not in a warehouse, but at an office location with a receiving dock. Other duties as needed to provide support to the overall office, including pickup of trash on property.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receiving:
- Receive, log, and distribute incoming shipments/deliveries, such as products, supplies, UPS, FedEx, DHL and or USPS packages, etc.
- Verify shipments contain appropriate items.
- Check for damages and report as needed.
- Record and sign for shipments.
- Scan and log packages into computer, which will generate an email to recipient.
- Deliver packages to appropriate employees or departments.
- Shipping:
- Prepare outgoing pallets as needed, typically trade show crates, large boxes for shredding, shipments to warehouse and manufacturer.
- Determine best packaging options and method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures and shipping carriers.
- Contact appropriate transporter for pickup of shipments; coordinate with other departments to avoid multiple shipments to the same location.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies; order as needed.
- Maintenance:
- Keep busy receiving dock in clean, organized condition; safety is a priority.
- Stock employees break room with supplies, i.e., coffee, cups, paper products, etc.
- Keep and maintain the storage room clean and organized.
- Monitor the recycling and trash bins, report missed pickups; empty recycle boxes from throughout office as needed.
- Assist in facilities maintenance as needed, i.e. change light bulbs, mop-up spills/leaks, assemble chairs, move furnishings and file cabinets, etc.
- General:
- Use computer as needed for email, logging packages received.
- Operate hand-truck and/or pallet jack as needed.
- Keep parking lot and outside are of office free of trash.
- Maintain inventory of toner/copier cartridges; order as needed.
- Other duties as able to assist other departments.
- Takes initiative to keep busy; seek other work during down time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be reliable, have excellent attendance and be on time daily.
- General knowledge of shipping protocols; use of ShipStation; previous experience preferred.
- Ability to manage company’s shipping accounts, including communicating with shipping vendors.
- Ability to lift heavy packages and ability to safely use hand pallet jack and hand-truck as needed.
- Have a high sense of urgency and ability to work with a variety of people and departments, service oriented.
- Takes initiative and looks for work to stay busy, work under minimum supervision.
- Must be able to lift heavy boxes, stand, walk, bend. Must be comfortable climbing ladders as needed.
- General skills in office/building maintenance.
Education &/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer at least 2 years’ experience in shipping and receiving, including computer use to log deliveries and shipments.
- Shipping protocols and knowledge of Federal Express/UPS software helpful.
- Light facilities handy-work experience desired.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
