The Field Communications and Camera Systems Specialist will support oil & gas operations by designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting communications systems and field level video equipment critical to field performance and safety.
This role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient communication across remote sites using technologies such as cellular, RF, two-way radios, satellite, microwave, and wireless IP networks. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with a strong understanding of field operations in oil & gas environments.
- Install, configure, and maintain communication systems including radios, RF repeaters, cellular boosters, microwave, and satellite equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain field level video surveillance systems.
- Configuring basic IP/Network devices.
- Support and troubleshoot SCADA communications and field networking equipment.
- Monitor and optimize signal strength and coverage for drilling, production, and logistics operations.
- Coordinate with IT, field operations, and HSE teams to ensure communications reliability for safety-critical systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and maintain documentation of communication infrastructure, licenses, and site coverage maps.
- Ensure compliance with FCC and industry regulations.
- Train field personnel on the use and best practices of communication equipment.
- Provide communications support during emergencies and outages.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field (equivalent field experience considered).
- 3–5 years of experience with communications systems (cellular, RF, satellite, microwave), preferably in oil & gas, utilities, or industrial settings.
- Knowledge of RF propagation, antenna systems, and frequency coordination.
- Experience with cellular boosters, network routers, and SCADA communications.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in remote field environments.
- Familiarity with FCC regulations and licensing requirements.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently to field sites.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with oil & gas operations and SCADA communication needs.
- Knowledge of IP networking and industrial IoT connectivity.
- Experience with digital radio systems (DMR, P25).
- Vendor certifications in RF, cellular, or networking equipment.
