What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Operator position at Panhandle Milling?
The Mix Batching Operator oversees the functions of bulk mixing to maximize and maintain optimum efficiency and quality while collaborating directly with the Quality Assurance Department. The role involves monitoring incoming raw materials and packaging components to produce work-in-process/finish goods that meet food safety standards set forth by the company.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-start safety and sanitation inspections, record results, and follow HACCP forms if applicable.
- Weigh up, blend all mixes per production schedule and recipe card.
- Manage an inventory of ingredients, working with the Mix Supervisor on replenishing inventory.
- Communicate with quality to meet standards of the quality control department.
- Maintain organized and pristine conditions in all Mix Production and Storage areas.
- Ensure ingredient and final product storage standards are upheld.
- Bag, seal, and palletize finished products in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion on structurally sound pallets.
- Manage ingredient quality and prompt notification of inventory adjustments.
- Keep bags/boxes available and ready to be used, including labels for customers.
- Clean and sanitize all Mix Production and Storage areas at the end of each run.
- Frequently monitor magnet, report, and document findings to the QA Manager or Mix Supervisor.
- Perform allergen cleans in Mix Plant area, mixer, and equipment according to procedures.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of Quality Assurance experience required.
- High School Graduate or GED preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety rules and regulations.
- Understanding of basic principles of the BRC program and other food safety policies/procedures.
- Forklift certification a plus.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, multitask, and ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to work unsupervised and utilize computers for data entry and recipe card retrieval.
- Basic math skills for calculating ingredient amounts.
- Ability to adhere to all GMP Procedures and wear protective equipment.

- Physical efforts such as straining, pulling, lifting, standing, and walking on concrete floor.
- Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures.
