What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Dietitian - WIC position at Panhandle Health District?
Panhandle Health District (PHD) is seeking a part-time (28 hours per week) Registered Dietitian to join our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program in Hayden, Idaho. Become part of a dedicated, compassionate team and help make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our community!
The Registered Dietitian in WIC is responsible for the care and interactions provided to WIC clients at Panhandle Health District (PHD). Daily functions include activities related to WIC client services, client and staff education, breastfeeding promotion and education, and referrals to community partners.
Qualifications and Proficiencies:
- Certified as a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or RD Eligible with examination and certification within 3 months of hire.
- Licensed as a dietitian in the State of Idaho by the Idaho State Board of Medicine under Idaho Code, Section 54-3506.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and accurate documentation.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of the core functions and essential services of public health.
- Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA policies.
- Knowledge of health care systems structure and function; ability to make appropriate client referrals based upon client need, program guidelines, and community resources.
- Valid driver's license (Idaho or Washington) or ability to obtain one if relocating.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (IS)100, 700 within one (1) month of employment.
Physical Requirements:
Due to the need for all Health Department personnel to respond to public health emergencies, the employee must be assessed for his/her ability to meet the physical demands of performing the following activities:
- Engage in the following movements: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and writing and repetitive motions.
- To move objects, exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
- Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
- Visual ability must be sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screens, and drive a car
