The Light Duty Diesel Repair Shop Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the repair shop, ensuring efficient and high-quality service for light duty diesel vehicles. This role involves managing a team of skilled technicians, coordinating repair and maintenance projects, maintaining excellent customer relationships, and upholding safety and compliance standards within the repair facility.
Responsibilities:
1. Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of technicians, ensuring optimal performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to technicians, fostering a collaborative and skilled workforce.
2. Customer Service:
- Interact with customers to assess their vehicle repair and maintenance needs, provide accurate estimates, and recommend appropriate services.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
3. Repair and Maintenance Coordination:
- Plan and schedule repair and maintenance projects, allocating resources effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Prioritize tasks based on urgency and vehicle availability, optimizing the utilization of the repair shop's resources.
4. Technical Expertise:
- Possess a strong understanding of light duty diesel vehicle systems, engines, and components to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist technicians in complex repair tasks, providing technical guidance and support as needed.
5. Inventory and Supply Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure necessary items while maintaining cost-effective inventory levels.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Uphold safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
- Adhere to environmental regulations, disposal practices, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of repair orders, service history, and customer interactions in the company's database.
- Generate reports on shop productivity, revenue, expenses, and other key performance metrics.
8. Budget Management:
- Collaborate with management to establish and monitor the repair shop's budget, controlling expenses while maximizing revenue opportunities.
9. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements within the repair shop.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize service quality and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Previous experience (2 years) in automotive repair and maintenance, with a focus on light duty diesel vehicles.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide technicians.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing light duty diesel vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of automotive industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental practices.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with repair shop management software.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
