Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Yard Manager to lead the efficient operation of our outdoor storage and logistics yard. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the coordination of inbound and outbound shipments, manage inventory control, and ensure seamless transportation and distribution processes. Your leadership will drive process improvements, optimize yard activities, and uphold safety standards, all while fostering a proactive and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily yard operations, including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, and materials handling to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Manage inventory to maintain precise stock levels and streamline distribution.
- Coordinate with drivers to maintain quick and efficient loading and unloading of semi trucks.
- Supervise yard staff to maximize efficiency while controlling costs and maintaining safety.
- Lead safety initiatives by enforcing materials handling protocols, forklift operation standards, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Owner and Office Manager to maintain proper records of inbound and outbound freight/inventory.
Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in inventory control, loading and unloading of semi trucks, trailers, flatbeds, etc.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment including forklifts, skid steers, and pallet jacks and various yard equipment.
- Prior leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced yard environment is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of logistics, materials handling techniques, safety standards, and material handling procedures will be advantageous.
