Job Overview
Panhandle Builders & Excavating, Inc. is a busy construction company seeking an experienced and motivated pipe layer/construction laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in pipeline installation and a strong understanding of construction site operations. As a pipe layer, your responsibilities will include assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm drains, water mains, and sanitary sewers, ensuring that all installations meet the required specifications and standards. In addition to your pipe-laying duties, you will also operate and maintain various machines, load and unload heavy materials, and follow directions from supervisors and other skilled tradespeople. Applicants should be physically fit, reliable, and a hard worker to succeed in this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Pipe Layer –
o Digging trenches using hand and machine trenching tools.
o Laying pipes into trenches and applying pipe spacers.
o Checking pipe alignment and sealing pipes with cement glue.
o Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings.
o Filling and sealing pipe trenches.
- Construction Laborer –
o Keep job sites clean and organized.
o Assist equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled laborers when necessary.
o Prep construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards.
o Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
o Follow instructions from supervisors.
o Operate and maintain basic construction equipment and tools.
Requirements:
· Be at least 18 years of age.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Proven work experience as a pipe layer.
· Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
· Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
· Experience with machine-operated trenching tools.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
· Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
· Available for possible Saturday work.
