Job Overview
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Panel Builder / Controls Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background in industrial controls and machine wiring, with the ability to accurately assemble and wire control panels based on schematics and technical specifications. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless integration of electrical components and the delivery of reliable, high-quality control systems.
Our company has a shop located in Grand Rapids, MI, but we contract to various automation companies in the Grand Rapids and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
- Assemble control panels and electrical enclosures following detailed schematics and technical drawings.
- Wire electrical components, including, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), relays, switches, and sensors.
- Solder components using surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole techniques in accordance with IPC 610 standards.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings to ensure accurate assembly and wiring.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, as well as power tools safely and effectively.
- Conduct testing of assembled panels for electrical continuity, insulation resistance, and proper operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to electrical wiring and mechanical assembly.
Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing or electrical assembly roles involving wiring, electrical schematics, and control panel assembly.
- Strong knowledge of electrical wiring practices, schematics interpretation, and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Hands-on experience with soldering
- Familiarity with UL508A Standards
- Ability to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, as well as power tools safely and effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge including machining operations, use of measurements, and understanding of electrical components is preferred.

Pay: $22.00 - $36.00 per hour
