Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to oversee the daily performance of our dispatch team and drivers. This position is responsible for maximizing fleet utilization, reducing downtime, increasing profitability, improving driver performance, and ensuring dispatchers are operating efficiently and meeting company goals.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can hold dispatchers and drivers accountable, solve operational challenges, improve communication, and drive operational excellence without requiring constant oversight from ownership.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership- Manage and supervise dispatchers and drivers.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
- Resolve operational issues and conflicts promptly.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, urgency, and teamwork.
- Monitor daily truck utilization and identify opportunities to reduce downtime.
- Ensure dispatchers are maximizing revenue opportunities for each truck.
- Track loaded miles, empty miles, revenue per truck, and overall fleet productivity.
- Work closely with dispatchers to improve load planning and profitability.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that increase company margins.
- Review dispatcher performance and profitability metrics.
- Ensure loads are booked at acceptable rates and profit margins.
- Monitor customer service levels and load execution.
- Provide coaching and support to improve dispatcher effectiveness.
- Establish and enforce dispatch procedures and best practices.
