Career Specialist - Visual and Performing Arts (Elementary School Sites) (2025-26 School Year)

Summary:
Under the general supervision of the site principal, the Career Specialist will assist teachers in providing classroom Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) instruction to students in grades TK-6. The goal of an effective VAPA Career Specialist is to develop in each student an interest in and ability to express himself/herself creatively in the arts, and utilize skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the student's interests and abilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop, prepare present, and coordinate classroom VAPA lessons.
• Provide assistance in developing a school-wide VAPA instruction schedule.
• Coordinate school-wide VAPA projects and programs.
• Plan and present school VAPA displays and exhibits.
• Instruct pupils in proper care and use of VAPA materials.
• Organize storage areas and control the use of materials to prevent loss or abuse.
• Provide input to staff regarding pupil progress in the area of VAP.
• Help maintain a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
• Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.

  • Meet district standards for physical and mental health
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's Degree in Art or related field is preferred.
• A background working with elementary students is preferred.

Licenses and Certificates:

• Requires a valid driver's license.
