DESCRIPTION
The School Social Worker I will provide a full range of positive behavioral intervention and supports to students with pervasive social, emotional and behavioral difficulties including assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, school based wraparound services, information and referral and community linkages.

The School Social Worker I will provide a full range of positive behavioral intervention and supports to students with pervasive social, emotional and behavioral difficulties including assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, school based wraparound services, information and referral and community linkages.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides comprehensive research informed social, emotional, behavioral and mental health intervention and supports to reduce the intensity, frequency, and/or complexity of difficult behaviors in identified students.
- Prepare and report on Biopsychosocial Assessments.
- Provide evidence-based individual, group and family services at various locations within the district.
- Provide case management to help assist families with information and referrals to community resources to address student and family needs.
- Develop measurable outcomes, data tracking and progress monitoring tools.
- Provides psycho-education on topics that include mental health, trauma awareness, social skills, conflict mediation, restorative practices, grief, suicide prevention, and other social emotional subjects that impact learning.
- Promote parent engagement in the educational process.
- Facilitates professional development that addresses barriers to learning and methods to restore and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
- Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s educational performance and behavior.
- Collaborates with teachers and school staff providing consultation to develop strategies for classroom management and positive behavior support planning and implementation.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams including Student Success Teams, MTSS and PBIS.
- Conduct home visits as needed.
- Assesses and reports child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and threats to harm others.
- Complete required charting, documentation and billing for services in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance to professional standards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Willingness and ability to serve as a field instructor or preceptor for social work interns.
- Adherence to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics and core values.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
