Senior Industrial Designer/Project & Product Development Manager
Antioch, IL and Columbus, OH based large consumer outdoor products company, specializing in outdoor products is seeking a candidate with Industrial and Product Development design capabilities to join in house design team. This person will be responsible for, and should be capable in a wide variety of design tasks including the following:
- Product design from start to finish including sketching, CAD work and Engineering / mechanical drawings in Solidworks and/or AutoCAD or similar software and willing to switch to SolidWorks
- Photorealistic product renderings on white background and in various interior and exterior environments including Blender and Rhinoceros 3D modeling. Ability to create 3D spinning images for web also desired.
- Candidate must be able to develop a style across a wide variety of products and materials (metal, plastic & wood)
- Graphic design including package design, literature and catalog layouts, trade show banners etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Photo retouching skills and basic photography knowledge
- Ability to manage time and resources to meet critical deadlines
- Great communication and collaboration abilities. Experience working with overseas factories in China, India, etc. a plus.
- As project manager in this category, your role will be to support a sales team with creative assistance as needed, and over time, become knowledgeable of competitive and similar products in the marketplace and report to Vice President of Marketing & Product Development and Senior Management to create innovative and clever new products.
Software knowledge required is Solidworks or equivalent CAD program (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD etc.) and willing to learn ours. Adobe Suite of products required (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Lightroom) with others a plus. Apple OS and computers are used with Windows emulator for Solidworks.

Candidate must possess 5-10 years of relevant work experience and must include CAD experience. Portfolio should include samples of graphic and industrial design work. BFA degree required. Salary based on experience. Knowledge of outdoor products (garden, bird/nature, patio furniture) would be a great fit!
