Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hands-On Ocean Export Supervisor to oversee and manage day-to-day export operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is equally comfortable leading a team as they are jumping in to handle bookings, documentation, and carrier coordination directly. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, ocean freight practices, and excellent leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in all aspects of ocean export operations from booking to final delivery.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and customers to ensure timely and accurate shipment execution.
- Prepare and review export documentation (e.g., bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, letters of credit, certificates of origin).
- Ensure compliance with international shipping laws, U.S. export regulations (including EAR and ITAR when applicable), and customer requirements.
- Monitor shipments, troubleshoot delays, and proactively resolve operational issues.
- Provide hands-on support to the team during peak times or complex transactions.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior staff; ensure adherence to company policies and SOPs.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report operational metrics to management.
- Work closely with internal departments such as sales, purchasing, and finance to support seamless operations.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in ocean export operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong working knowledge of international shipping regulations and Incoterms.
- Familiarity with export documentation, AES filings, and carrier requirements.
- Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, or similar TMS/ERP systems).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Detail-oriented and proactive with a hands-on approach to leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in logistics, international trade, or related field preferred.
Work Hour M-F from 8:30am-5:30pm with One hour lunch break.
For this position, the expected base pay is: $62,000- $70,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
