Duties
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, brushing, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and styling tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely and compassionately, utilizing proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures
- Assess each dog’s coat condition, skin health, and overall demeanor to determine appropriate grooming plans
- Provide pet owners with advice on ongoing pet care, grooming maintenance, and behavioral tips such as dog training techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in excellent condition
- Assist with pet handling during other animal care activities such as kennel cleaning or pet sitting when needed
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal handling or restraint if veterinary experience or veterinary technician experience is available
Experience
- Previous experience in pet grooming or animal handling is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience adds value to the role
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods, pet care routines, and kennel operations is beneficial
- Experience working with animals in veterinary assistant roles or veterinary technician settings enhances your ability to handle diverse situations
- Ability to lift heavy objects (heavy lifting) such as grooming equipment or large dogs safely and effectively
- Strong customer service skills to communicate clearly with pet owners and address their concerns professionally
- Prior experience in animal care environments including kennels or pet sitting is advantageous
