Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and brushing to meet each dog’s specific needs and breed standards
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s health and behavior, alerting veterinary staff or pet owners to any concerns or abnormalities
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming station by sanitizing tools and work areas regularly
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with pet owners about grooming preferences, aftercare, and recommendations
- Assist with pet handling during check-in and check-out processes, ensuring a smooth experience for clients
- Support pet care routines such as ear cleaning, nail trimming, and coat conditioning to promote overall health and hygiene
Requirements
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of different coat types and grooming techniques
- Knowledge of dog training, handling, and animal restraint methods to ensure safety during grooming sessions
- Background in veterinary or animal care fields such as veterinary technician or assistant experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with animal handling across various species including dogs and horses is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects (heavy lifting) such as tubs of supplies or large dogs safely and effectively
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with pet owners
- Strong animal handling skills paired with patience, compassion, and attention to detail
- Prior kennel experience or pet sitting background is advantageous for understanding animal behavior and needs
