Materials Management Technician
The Material Management Technician is responsible for ensuring hospital and outpatient clinic supply requests are filled in a timely manner. The Material Management Technician will follow established hospital and department policies and procedures when performing any of the job responsibilities. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing
- Receives material (supplies) when a delivery is made. Verifies actual quantities received to packing slip and packing slip to purchase order.
- Reports discrepancies, i.e. shortage or damaged items to supervisor.
- Delivers material to ordering department.
Central Supply
- Delivers a fully stocked supply cart to each nursing station and picks up previous days cart and daily charge cards.
- Inventories and restocks each cart. Verifies that what was taken from the cart was billed to a patient on the daily charge cards.
- Maintains set stock levels in departments that require patient chargeable items.
- Inventories items in each department and ensures that missing items have been billed to a department or a patient.
- Fills department requisitions for stocking supplies and delivers the supplies to their department.
- Reconcile Patient Equipment use, owned and/or rental
Audio Visual
- Schedules equipment requested by departments.
- Ensures equipment is signed out.
- Sets up equipment when requested.
- Ensures equipment is in operational condition when returned, and cleans equipment when necessary.
Shipping
- Prepares and ships all department packages via approved carriers.
- Sends all carrier bills to accounts payable with pertinent information, i.e., departments to bill, amount to charge department, and what was shipped.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training: Must be high school graduate or GED equivalent. Training provided.
Experience: One year experience preferred in warehouse or central supply.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good driving record. Must be able to be insured by the hospital insurance company to drive vehicles.
- Verbal ability is necessary to work form written and oral instructions form the supervisor.
- Ability to perform other designated department positions with appropriate cross training.
- Ability to coordinate a variety of requests to ensure task completion, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ability to operate or successfully complete training to operate hospital vehicles.
