What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Member, Accountant Advisory Board position at Palus Finance (YC W26)?
Palus is a fractional CFO company backed by Y Combinator (W26). We pair businesses with an experienced CFO and back that person with AI, so the strategic work gets done at a fraction of what a full-time CFO costs. Our customers choose Palus over traditional fractional CFOs due to the efficiency and insight that our human expert AI model provides.
We are now extending that by letting accounting firms offer it to their clients alongside their existing services. Many of the firms we've spoken with would like to add fractional CFO or strategic finance services to make client relationships stickier and increase revenue. But many firms don't have the in-house resources to offer these add-on services. Our service plugs into the systems a firm already runs on, so the firm can offer it under its own roof without hiring a CFO or standing up a new practice.
As we build this out, we want a small group of accountants who run their own firms to help shape it. That is what this role is. You would be a founding member of the advisory board, with a direct say in how the service is designed, priced, and delivered. It is an advisory seat, not a job and not a client-facing position, and your time is paid.
What you would help with
- How the service should be packaged and priced so it makes sense for a firm like yours
- How a client moves between your firm and ours, and what the integration with your systems needs to look like
- Where your clients ask for help you can't take on today, and what they would actually pay for
- Who else belongs on this board, and introductions where you think they fit
Who we're looking for
Owners and partners of CPA, accounting, or bookkeeping firms serving small and mid-sized businesses. You own the client relationships and decide what the firm offers. We want to hear from a range of firm sizes and specialties.
Requirements
- Partner or owner at your firm
- Clients include owner-operated businesses doing $1M or more in revenue
- Based in the US
- CPA license is a plus, not required
Commitment and compensation
Remote, roughly 1 hour/month: one short call with us a month, plus the occasional question by email or text. The advisory role is compensated. Founding members also get first access to the service when it launches, on terms they helped set. We'll start with a quick conversation to see if it's a fit and move quickly from there.
