Maintenance Worker Job Responsibilities: The Part-Time Maintenance Technician will assist with the care and upkeep of Palomar Hills amenities and common areas. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance and minor repairs, supporting pool operations, maintaining ponds, monitoring and caring for walking trails, sport courts, and playgrounds, as well as handling trash removal. The role also includes seasonal tasks such as decoration setup/removal and snow/ice management. The technician will work closely with the Association Manager to complete maintenance requests, ensure equipment and facilities remain safe and operational, promptly report any major issues to the Property Manager, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Inspects the building, grounds, ponds and equipment.
- Handles all minor repairs and maintenance as outlined by the association manager.
- Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash weekly
- Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
- Completes repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion
- Reports any issues to the association manager.
- Follows written and verbal instructions from the association manager.
- Collaborates with the association manager as needed.
- Follows local and state building codes.
- Complies with all company safety regulations.
- Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
- Uses equipment, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred
- Previous experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or facility upkeep preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and pond maintenance.
- Ability to operate small tools, equipment, and machinery safely
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with staff, vendors, and residents
- Flexible schedule, including availability for occasional evenings, weekends, or seasonal needs
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a plus
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 16 per week
