Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS degree with emphasis on specific courses in specialized areas;
- Two years of satisfactory experience as an instructional aide or in related positions;
- Satisfactory work history;
- Satisfactory experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude and maintain cooperative relationships with those contracted during the course of work;
- Teaching credential preferred. OVERVIEW: Supports teachers in delivering adapted PE by assisting with instruction, supervising student safety, and reinforcing skills and behavior. Helps prepare materials, manage equipment, and support student participation in a safe, inclusive environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with instructional activities in programs under the direction of the principal;
- Interact effectively with students;
- Monitor and reinforce skills and student behavior;
- Supervise student safety during adaptive PE activities;
- Provide instructional prompts;
- Assist teacher instruction by leading small groups;
- Facilitating movement and positioning;
- Assist in assembling and developing materials for instruction;
- Collecting materials and equipment needed by the teacher;
- Assembling, adjusting, and maintaining equipment used in the instructional program;
- Preparing the room for the activity, obtaining the required materials and equipment, the operation of the equipment, and return of all materials and equipment to storage;
- Data collection on mastery of skills;
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, students and others contacted during the course of this work;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
