Preschool Teacher Assistant – Job Description

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our warm and collaborative team at our Palo Alto bilingual Montessori preschool. As a Teacher Assistant, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment where young children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. This role is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about early childhood education and eager to grow in a supportive, family-like setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher in preparing and implementing Montessori-based and bilingual (English/Mandarin/Spanish) learning activities
• Support children in daily routines such as snack time, diaper changing, and naptime
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom

Requirements:

• A genuine love for working with young children (ages 2–6)
• Experience in a preschool or early childhood education setting preferred
• Willingness to learn and follow the Montessori approach
• Basic understanding of child development
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Fluent in English
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
• Minimum of 6-12 ECE units preferred (but not required for entry-level applicants)

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
