About the Role:

The Strategic Access Specialist Supervisor serves as an integral leader of a compact, high-performing team responsible for managing complex patient access operations and enhanced service contract requirements. This position oversees a team of Strategic Access Specialists who process new referrals, orders, insurance verifications, authorizations, and other key functions that ensure timely access to prescribed therapies. The Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with payer and contractual standards. Acting as the primary escalation point for complex cases, this role drives resolutions, supports strategic manufacturer partnerships, and promotes operational excellence through collaboration, continuous improvement, and effective communication across departments.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience/Education:

• 3 years of medical insurance case management or patient assistance experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
  
  

Essential Duties:

• Supervises daily operations of the Strategic Access Specialist team, including referral intake, order review, insurance verification and authorization, and patient assistance program enrollment.
• Ensures timely acceptance and completion of new orders and referrals, including insurance verifications, authorizations, and predeterminations.
• Implements and maintains best practices for queue and workload management, ensuring team productivity consistently meets organizational and industry standards.
• Monitors performance metrics using daily, weekly, and monthly reports, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and counseling to support staff development and operational excellence.
• Conducts audits of phone, chart, and insurance activities to verify accuracy, quality, and compliance, complementing productivity reporting for performance management.
• Drives optimal patient outcomes by ensuring access to the best possible treatment options while balancing organizational priorities.
• Facilitates interdepartmental communication, collaborating across Palmetto Infusion to enhance patient care, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Supports marketing and business development efforts by assisting the sales team and providing education and resources to referral sources as requested.
• Manages escalated requests, resolving complex orders, referrals, and insurance issues in a timely and accurate manner.
• Leads adherence to enhanced service contract requirements, ensuring team processes and completed work meet all contractual standards.
• Oversees onboarding, training, and mentoring for new employees, providing structured, instructor-led training and ongoing guidance to build team competency and confidence.
