About the Role:
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Specialist is under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. They will have a designated role to aid the pharmacist in the sterile compounding of medications in accordance with prescriptions to help service acute home infusion patients. The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Specialist serves patients by following all procedures to maintain the classified spaces required for safe and effective sterile preparation of medications in accordance with USP 797 guidelines. They will also assist the pharmacist with prescription generation and any task relevant to daily operations of the pharmacy.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturdays as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician technical program, including completion of a sterile compounding training course or 1 year experience working in and maintaining classified spaces for sterile
- State Certified Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Technician
- Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm
- Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion team.
- Maintains all licensure and continuing education requirements
- Demonstrates sterile compounding related competencies based on USP 797 standards
- Completes sterile compounding practical certification in accordance with USP 797 standards every 6 months
- Ensure all sterile compounding ante rooms, buffer rooms and primary engineering controls are appropriately cleaned daily and in accordance with USP 797 standards
- Maintains proper competencies based on assigned role and may be cross trained in multiple pharmacy areas to assist pharmacy team as a whole
- Ensure all necessary components for prescription orders are pulled, compounded under a pharmacist supervision and all required paperwork and labels are printed and appropriately affixed for pharmacist final check
- Assists with receiving, unpacking and stocking supplies in the pharmacy as well as following appropriate procedures to safely stock supplies needed in the sterile compounding buffer room
- Assists pharmacists in any prescription related tasks
- Following all regulation standards in keeping logs for temperature, pressure, cleaning, maintenance, and monitoring of all primary and secondary engineering controls
- Assists in completion of monthly inventory, monitors and retrieves expired medications from stock and assists Pharmacist in Charge in the event of a medication recall based on company policy
