Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Telemetry/Oncology Unit provides safe, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring and oncology treatment. The RN integrates clinical expertise with patient-centered care, ensuring accurate monitoring, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect nursing care to telemetry and oncology patients in accordance with hospital and unit policies.
- Monitor, interpret, and respond to cardiac rhythms and clinical status changes.
- Administer medications, chemotherapy (if certified), and IV therapies safely and accurately.
- Perform thorough assessments, implement individualized care plans, and document all interventions in the EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to coordinate care and discharge planning.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding disease processes, treatments, and recovery. Uphold infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- One (1) year acute care experience preferred
- Graduate from an approved nursing educational program as defined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)
- Successful completion of Telemetry course/or experience in telemetry.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State (FL) Registered Nurse Licensure.
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Successful completion of Telemetry course/or experience in telemetry.
- ONS Certified Chemotherapy Provider within six months of hire.
