Palmetto Early Intervention Services is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Early Interventionist/Family Trainer to work with infants and toddlers with developmental delays and their families throughout Spartanburg County.
The position begins with a part-time caseload and offers the opportunity to gradually grow into full-time employment. Palmetto Early Intervention Services provides client referrals, allowing the Early Interventionist to build a caseload based on availability.
Flexible Daytime Schedule
Employees choose their preferred days and daytime hours and coordinate visits with families based on mutual availability. Schedules may vary—for example, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or 12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Visits are generally scheduled Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. No evenings or weekends are required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide individualized Family Training visits to children from birth to age three in their natural environments, including family homes and childcare centers.
- Implement developmental activities based on each child’s Individualized Family Service Plan goals.
- Coach parents, caregivers, and childcare teachers on strategies they can use during everyday routines.
- Monitor each child’s developmental progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Coordinate and communicate with families, therapists, childcare providers, and other members of the child’s team.
- Complete accurate visit notes and required documentation within established timeframes.
- Maintain professional and confidential records in accordance with agency and BabyNet requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, early childhood education, special education, psychology, sociology, social work, family and consumer sciences, or a related field.
- At least one year of documented experience working with infants and toddlers from birth to age three.
- Must currently reside in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Willingness to travel throughout Spartanburg County to family homes and childcare centers.
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a flexible schedule, and meet documentation deadlines.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience with BabyNet, Early Intervention, Family Training, early-childhood home visiting, IFSPs, BRIDGES, or Therap is preferred but not required. Training and ongoing support are provided.
Compensation and Employee Support
- $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience and assigned duties
- Mileage reimbursement provided separately
- Required documentation, training, and approved office time are paid
- Paid training and ongoing support
- CPR and First Aid training provided
- Required orientation and additional annual training hours provided
- Office equipment, Family Training materials, and activity supplies provided
- Client referrals provided to help employees gradually build their caseloads
Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a SLED criminal background check, DSS Central Registry check, and pre-employment drug screening.
