Position Description: Palmetto Corp. is currently looking for an Asphalt Plant Groundman who performs physical labor at our asphalt plants. It is imperative that this position follows all safety procedures as our asphalt plants contain dangerous equipment and terrain which may pose potential hazards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Clean rubble, debris and remove waste materials.
- Must be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Load and unload trucks and haul/hoist materials.
- Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction area.
- Maintain clean jobsite daily.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to work schedule.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).
- Any and all other task as assigned.
Position Requirements Requirements:
- Must adhere to all Palmetto Corp. safety regulations.
- Experience in or around construction equipment.
- Must be able to lift at minimum 50 lbs.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Physical Demands: The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- Noise level is generally loud.
- Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
