What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geotechnical Driller position at Palmerton and Parrish, Inc.?
Palmerton & Parrish, Inc.’s (PPI’s) Springfield, Missouri office is seeking candidates for a Geotechnical Driller job opening. An ideal candidate for a Geotechnical Driller will be familiar with geotechnical drilling and well installation using auger, mud rotary, and rock coring methods.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
- Geotechnical field drilling activities, including but not limited to, drilling and sampling of geotechnical test borings, and installation of wells, plugging and abandoning of wells, and drilling of soil borings
- Be available for drilling projects that require both in-state and out-of-state travel and overnight stays (up to 90% out of town)
- Adhere to USDOT drug and alcohol requirements
- Compose required driller’s logs
- Comply with a weekly/daily safety, as provided by the drilling manager
- Supervise the maintenance of drill rigs and equipment
- Maintenance/organization of vehicle tracking paperwork and/or digital files
- Be dependable and consistent with attendance
- Follow PPI policies and protocols
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Be in good physical condition with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, have the ability to routinely lift 50-90 pounds
- Ability to work independently, have strong verbal communication, and ability to troubleshoot
- 1 year field drilling experience
- CDL (Class A) license (preferred, not required)
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment
- Physical requirements also include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity sufficient to operate a mobile phone and write legibly. This position requires walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, feeling, climbing, twisting, and the ability to physically maneuver construction sites, excavations, and uneven terrain. Vision, speech, and hearing must also be adequate to perform the essential tasks.
