About the position:
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
This position encompasses pre-testing patients and optical dispensing. We are looking for someone with optical experience in the optometric field. We can use someone full time, but if you are only available part-time, that works for us too. Recent graduates from optician or optometry tech programs are also welcome. Any experience in optical stores, optometry or ophthalmology offices is beneficial. This position is for someone who will work with our patients primarily helping to select eyeglasses and lens options, handle ordering with labs, Rx verification and dispensing eyeglasses. If you are unfamiliar with our equipment, we will train you. Contact lens wearers are encouraged to apply as you will also help instruct new wearers how to use contact lenses.
Our office is a private practice, not a commercial store. You will be delivering patient care; you will not be a salesperson pushing products to generate commissions. Everyone is paid an hourly wage and works in their area of expertise. Hourly starting pay ranges between $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience. We review performance after a 90-day introductory period and reassess pay at that time.
Our staff is cross-trained so that you may also be involved with pretesting (medical tests prior to patients seeing the doctors), coordination of care with our doctors, patient greeting and check-in, scheduling appointments, verification and authorization of both medical and vision insurances and patient communications. As every office has different equipment, software and procedures and does thing a little differently, we will train you for anything that you may not be familiar with.
The Palmer Eyecare Center is located at the intersection of Rt. 66 and Rt. 16 in East Hampton, CT. You will be part of a small, focused team that delivers exceptional eye care.

We treat medical issues like glaucoma, dry eyes and red eyes, co-manage ophthalmic surgery with top surgeons and LASIK centers and offer some of the best eyeglass and contact lens options from around the world to our patients. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. A typical workweek is about 35 hours. Part time employment is available and is ideal if you have young children in daycare or school.
