The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing and growing an assigned territory through relationship-driven selling, product expertise, and consistent customer engagement. This role focuses on increasing sales and gross profit by developing new business, expanding existing accounts, and positioning Palmer-Donavin’s products and services as solutions that help customers succeed.
This position is field-based and requires daily interaction with customers. You will act as a trusted advisor to your accounts by identifying opportunities, providing product training, and delivering a high level of service. Success in this role is driven by strong follow-through, effective territory management, and the ability to consistently generate and close new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow an assigned territory by developing new business and expanding existing customer relationships
- Conduct regular in-person customer visits, including job site and warehouse walkthroughs to identify opportunities
- Promote and introduce new products, including leading product training sessions for customers
- Track sales activity, opportunities, and performance using internal systems and reporting tools
- Follow up on all customer communication (calls, emails, quotes, issues) in a timely manner
- Identify customer needs and recommend products, programs, and services to support their business growth
- Maintain accurate pricing, product placement, and stocking strategies within customer accounts
- Collaborate with Sales Managers and internal teams to execute on opportunities and resolve issues
- Analyze territory performance and adjust strategy to meet or exceed sales and gross profit goals
- Prospect and onboard new accounts on a consistent basis
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required
- 1 – 2 years of Inside and/or Outside Sales experience
- Experience in the Building Materials industry or related, preferred
- Qualified applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to the sales territory
