Job Overview
The Coordinator of Admissions is responsible for screening, planning, organizing, and directing all possible Health Care admissions in accordance with Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility. The Admissions Coordinator works in conjunction with the Medical Director, HCC Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Billing Supervisor, as well as the Interdisciplinary Team. Also, the Coordinator works in conjunction with the HCC Administrator and Marketing Director to promote the services of the Healthcare Center to maintain a strong census.
Responsibilities
- Works aggressively to maintain high census through making sound decisions and appropriately manages all incoming inquiries and admissions. Also, develops and cultivates ongoing relationships with all discharge planners, case managers, physicians, and other suitable decision makers including insurance company coordinators.
- The Admissions Coordinator ensures all insurances (private, Medicare, and Medi-Cal), are current and coverage is in effect before admission of the resident. The Admissions Coordinator completes all required admission paperwork at the time of admission.
- Prepares and submits reports related to tracking of all incoming inquiries, assessments, and marketing events.
- Works with MDS and the Rehab Department to ensure admission criteria will be met for Medicare/Insurance coverage.
- Assists with, and audits for, completion of all admission related documentation such as Baseline Care Plans, Admission forms, assessments, physician orders, consents, etc. May also assist in the completion of MDS assessments.
- Completes ICD-10 diagnosis coding.
- Completes Admission PASRR when required and other admission related documents such as insurance verification forms, ABNs, etc.
- Attends meetings as required by the Administrator, and serves on various committees as required in accordance with regulation and facility policies.
- Assists with the training and education of licensed nurses related to the admission process.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession, as well as to maintain licensure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- License Nurse with current licensure is preferred.
- Long term care experience preferred.
- Experience in sales and marketing preferred.
- Proficient in the Spanish language is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in operating office equipment and computers including email, word processing and excel applications.
- Able to perform calculations for tracking census and preparing reports, understand and define problems, collect data and resolve issues in stressful situations.
- Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
- Must have the ability to work with all types of people.
- Must have a commitment to work as a team member and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must exude a compassionate, empathetic, and supportive character toward the residents and families of Palm Village.
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
