Job Summary

Palm Valley School seeks a dedicated and passionate Lower School Spanish Teacher to join our exceptional learning community. As an educator at PVS, you will play a key role in educating, nurturing, and

challenging students to develop Spanish language skills while fostering an appreciation for global cultures.

The ideal candidate will create an immersive and engaging environment where students build confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish through inquiry-based and interactive learning

experiences.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience: Minimum of three years teaching Spanish in a Kindergarten 5th grade classroom
  • Certification: Valid teaching certification required
  • Language Proficiency: Native or nearnative fluency in Spanish

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction

for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

  • Active Learning Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problemsolving and decisionmaking.
  • Active Listening Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Work Context

Works in classroom environment with children and other adults. Standing and sitting in confined area for extended periods of time. Interacts with children, families, and collegaues regualrly.

Primary Job Duties

  • Educate, Nurture, and Challenge: Develop and implement a dynamic Spanish language curriculum that fosters communication skills and cultural understanding
  • Individualized Learning: Differentiate instruction to support students at various levels of language proficiency and learning styles
  • Inspire Passion & Innovation: Utilize interactive teaching strategies such as storytelling, songs, games, and realworld applications to bring language learning to life
  • Foster a Supportive Learning Community: Establish a classroom culture based on trust, respect, and responsibility to self and others
  • Encourage Growth Across Disciplines: Collaborate with faculty to integrate Spanish language learning into other subject areas and projects
  • Model Ethical Leadership & Global Awareness: Instill values of respect, diversity, and responsible global citizenship in all interactions
  • Collaborate & Communicate Effectively: Build strong partnerships with students, families, and colleagues to support student progress and engagement
  • Engage in Professional Growth: Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives that align with our mission and values
  • Support Schoolwide Programs: Contribute to cocurricular activities, school events, and community engagement initiatives that enrich student learning
  • Commit to Excellence & Accountability: Maintain accurate records, submit reports promptly, and adhere to
