Overview
The Palm Desert Tennis Club, a racquet club within a 100 unit Homeowners Association (HOA) located in South Palm Desert is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician who would be passionate about maintaining our facilites in top notch condition. The Maintenance Technician is a reliable and skilled individual responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of the tennis club facilities and the associated common areas of the HOA. This role requires strong organizational skills, a solid work ethic, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to members, residents, vendors, and guests.
Responsibilities
- As Maintenance Technician you could be assigned and be responsible for performing the following tasks at the hightest standards:
1.Tennis Courts and Bocce/Squash Court Maintenance
Perform daily sweeping, cleaning, and periodic washing of tennis courts
General maintenance and repair of courts and related equipment as needed.
Clean and maintain the squash court as scheduled
Provide water and ice for tennis courts during the active season.
Maintain the bocce court area, including cleaning and ensuring outdoor furniture remains in designated locations.
2. Clubhouse & Facility Maintenance
Perform general cleaning of club facilities, including restrooms, kitchen, clubhouse common areas, patio, and lounge areas.
Set up and tear down for events and social activities.
Maintain kitchen equipment in proper working condition when possible
Conduct minor repairs and preventative maintenance on clubhouse, garages, maintenance shop and association buildings.
Perform basic drywall, painting/staining repairs, plumbing repairs including drain cleaning.
3. Common Area & HOA Maintenance
Maintain HOA common areas, including quads, pools, spa, and recreational facilities.
Ensure walkways, pathways, and common areas are clean, safe, and free of debris.
Inspect and maintain lighting systems (courts, landscape, pool, and building lights), including adjusting timers as needed.
Perform painting and preventative maintenance on vehicle gates, fences, and railings.
Conduct regular “walk-arounds” and inspections of the entire property.
Maintain HVAC systems in the clubhouse, squash court, and maintenance shop when possible
Maintain and repair club vehicles and equipment (truck, golf cart, Dingo) when possible.
Ensure proper storage and handling of all equipment and tools.
4. Irrigation & Water Management
Maintain and repair irrigation systems for lawns and gardens in common areas.
Perform weekly meter readings and submit reports to the office every Friday.
Monitor common areas for signs of excessive water use.
5. Safety, Waste Management & Pest Control
Conduct regular safety inspections of courts, facilities, and common areas; report/ address hazards promptly.
Manage waste disposal and recycling; ensure trash enclosures are emptied and cleaned regularly.
Implement basic pest control measures and coordinate with professional services when needed.
6. Seasonal & Preventative Maintenance
Complete seasonal tasks such as downspout cleaning, drain clearing, extensive painting, fence/gate repairs, and major equipment maintenance.
7. Administrative & Coordination Duties
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Track inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment.
Source and purchase supplies and services within approved budget guidelines.
8. Emergency Response & On-Call Duties
Be available for on-call emergency maintenance issues outside regular working hours
Respond promptly to urgent repairs and safety concerns.
Assist with facility preparation and recovery efforts during extreme weather or other emergencies.
9. Additional Expectations
Adhere to the Palm Desert Tennis Club (PDTC) Code of Conduct.
Deliver excellent customer service to owners, members, vendors, and guests.
Coordinate daily and long-term tasks with the General Manager and Member Services staff.
Prioritize work assignments, follow up on completion, and advocate for necessary resources.
Use technical skills and experience to problem-solve effectively and complete tasks in a cost-efficient manner.
Qualifications
- 2 years of recent experience in property maintenance or a related trade
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California Driver's License (required)
- Strong customer service, communication, and time management skills
- Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of safety compliance
- Proficient with tools and equipment, including power tools, meters, and safety gear
- Able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions
- Minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repair
- Carpentry and minor construction skills
- Grounds and irrigation system repair
Pay: $20.00 - $20.01 per hour
