Library Service Desk Supervisor

In support of the university’s mission and objectives, the Service Desk Supervisor of the Warren Library oversees student workers and manages library front desk operations primarily on weekends and evenings. This role ensures seamless and high-quality services to students, faculty, and other patrons of the Warren Library.

This is a part-time position scheduled for evenings and weekends during the academic year; summer work hours may vary.

Service Desk Coordination

• Oversees library service desk operations on weekends and evenings as scheduled.
• Assists students, faculty, and visitors in accessing and using library resources and technologies.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for service-related questions or concerns during assigned hours.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director..

Supervision of Student Workers

• Interviews and hires student workers.
• Trains, schedules, and supervises student workers to ensure full coverage of library needs.
• Provides coaching and guidance to student employees to foster professionalism and problem-solving skills.
• Validates student worker hours in the university’s payroll system.

Communication Support

• Communicates promptly with campus security and library administration as needed.
• Updates students on library policy, procedures, and service changes

EDUCATION

Post high school training required; Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE

1 years of management experience, preferred, especially as related to student workers. Customer service or library desk experience, preferred. Familiarity with use of computer technology in a library setting, required.
