JOB DESCRIPTION
Do you want to make a positive difference in the lives of school-age children? Join the Palestine YMCA as a member of our dynamic team of Summer Day Camp Counselors. The Summer Day Camp Program provides care for campers ages 5-12 during the summer months.
As a Summer Day Camp Counselor, you would support the mission, purpose and goals of the YMCA, while creating a caring environment for children, with an emphasis on their healthy emotional, physical, and intellectual development. You must be a positive role model for children, consistently setting an example of good moral values and behavior while leading the children through various fun activities throughout the day.
Skills/Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to work Monday- Friday.
- Must be willing and able to follow a schedule.
- Must be patient, kind, and want to work with kids.
- Must have or participate in CPR/AED and First Aid training before being assigned to the program and attend trainings, as scheduled.
- Must have prior experience working with or volunteering with children.
- Must encourage and foster cooperative social behavior through games, play, and group projects to assist children in forming satisfying relationships with other children and adults.
- Must participate in mandatory trainings before being assigned to the program and attend trainings, as scheduled.
- Must comply with YMCA Licensed Child Care and TX DFPS standards.
Must be able to pass a Texas and FBI background check and possess a valid state ID
