Cleaning Specialist

Job Description – Non-Exempt Staff

The hours for this position are Thursday 5pm-10pm, Friday 10:00am-2:00pm and Saturday 12:00pm-5:00pm

Know How

• Must be physically capable to lift a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Must have basic knowledge of proper use of tools and equipment required for completion of assigned tasks.
• Must not have any physical or mental condition that would limit them from performing any physical or mental task that was requested or assigned to them.
• Be able to recognize potential hazards that may cause an accident or would be a safety risk.
• Ability to handle irate, complaining or demanding individuals without internalizing or personalizing comments made.
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

General Function

• Responsible for performing maintenance / housekeeping assignments in a timely and efficient manner. Keep the facility and property clean, functional, and safe.
• Enforce policies with the emphasis on member service and understanding the

Mission of the YMCA.

• Carry out all work assigned by Director of Property and Maintenance, Chief Executive

Officer, Member Services Director, Business Director, or any other professional staff.

• Responsible for the completion of all assigned work, and supervision of community service.
• Responsible for the security of the facility and property while on duty.

Principal Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold YMCA mission statement and policies
• Report to scheduled work shifts on time, every time.
• Inform Director of Property and Maintenance/YMCA staff if unable to work assigned shift within 4 hour of start time.
• Monitor safety and risk management policies and procedures. (I.e. lock doors, mop up spills, report unsafe acts, etc…)
• Follow YMCA policies on dress code as provided in personnel policy manual.
• Responsible for knowing, implementing and enforcing all emergency procedures.
• Acknowledge members and guests in a caring and respectful manner.
• Be alert of children and adult activities to recognize potential hazards and accidents.
• Report problems to proper chain of command.
• As a condition of employment: o Memorize the Mission Statement of the Palestine YMCA o Attend continual education training for maintenance & housekeeping, and in respect to member service, or as requested. o Maintain current First Aid, CPR and AED training.
• Keep the facility and property clean, functional, and safe.

• Provide a clean, functional, and safe facility and grounds for members, guests, volunteers, and staff.
• Provide a proper working facility for members, guests, volunteers, and staff using the YMCA building and grounds.
• Provide a safe environment for activities and programs run through the YMCA.
• To build understanding of YMCA policies and Mission Statement.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $9.50 per hour

Work Location: In person
