Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic storyteller with exceptional writing skills to guide the development of messaging and media that strengthens our direct, on-the-ground ministry efforts. This role blends hands-on writing with creative collaboration, contributing to the vision across artwork, video, and messaging for our direct ministry initiatives. The ideal candidate will craft compelling short and long-form written content that drives action across print, digital, and video communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Write engaging and actionable copy for festival promotions, church relations campaigns, digital evangelism campaigns, and video storytelling, ensuring excellence and alignment with ministry goals.
- Write persuasive, inspiring copy for digital, print, and time-based media, modeling excellence in communication.
- Collaborate with designers, video artists, web developers, and social media specialists to contribute the messaging elements for integrated creative campaigns.
- Partner with ministry and department directors to translate vision and goals into actionable creative strategies.
- Ensure that the Palau story is communicated in innovative, engaging ways that strengthen the Gospel’s reach and our organization’s global impact.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Marketing Strategist to deliver projects on time and at a high level of quality.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to and takes direction from the Director of Story, under the leadership of the Chief Communications Officer.
Hybrid work in our Beaverton, Oregon office is preferred, with at least three in-office days. Two workdays can be completed from a home office. We are open to considering fully remote options for candidates outside of the Portland area, with occasional travel to headquarters.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in written communications for media and marketing.
- Technologically minded, systems-oriented thinker.
- Demonstrated ability to devise and test storytelling strategies that drive measurable growth and engagement.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent relational communication skills.
- Experience writing time-based media scripts (video and/or audio) and writing for digital marketing.
- Able to respond proactively to feedback and apply learnings to every new project.
- Driven to complete tasks with excellence on time and able to manage multiple objectives and projects simultaneously.
- Persistent drive to make things better and has an optimistic energy to test new strategies.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new digital tools like content management systems and publishing platforms.
- Experience using AI technologies to maximize efficiency.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide array of personalities.
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Mac IOS. Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud and web publishing platforms is a plus.
- Some travel, including international, may be required. Typically 2-4 trips per year.
