Locksmith / Maintenance Technician
Full-Time | Company Vehicle | Steady Year-Round Work | Willing to Train the Right Person
Paladino Development Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Locksmith / Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team.
This position is responsible for installing, repairing, replacing, and rekeying locks across our portfolio of 1,100 residential and commercial units. The right candidate will help keep our properties secure, ensure keys are properly tracked, and make sure all locks work correctly.
This role will also assist with general maintenance work orders and eviction-related lock changes when needed.
Previous locksmith experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
This position includes a 90-day probation period.
What You’ll Do Locksmith Responsibilities
- Install, repair, replace, and rekey interior and exterior locks.
- Duplicate keys as needed.
- Assist with lock changes related to evictions, move-outs, and turnovers.
- Verify locks are functioning properly and meet company standards.
- Maintain accurate key records and follow company key tracking procedures.
- Help ensure keys are properly labeled, organized, and secured.
- Respond to work orders related to door locks, deadbolts, entry locks, mailbox locks, storage locks, and other locking systems.
- Inspect doors, frames, strike plates, hinges, and hardware for proper operation.
- Communicate lock or security concerns to the maintenance leadership team.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Assist with general property maintenance work orders when needed.
- Help prepare vacant units for move-in.
- Perform minor repairs related to doors, hardware, trim, and general maintenance.
- Support maintenance technicians with property repairs and projects.
- Travel between company-managed properties throughout the Omaha area.
- Document completed work through company software.
What We’re Looking For

- Dependable, trustworthy, and detail-oriented.
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools.
- Interested in learning locksmith skills and property maintenance.
- Able to work independently and stay organized.
- Comfortable driving between multiple properties during the workday.
- Professional when working around residents, vendors, and team members.
- Able to follow key control and security procedures.
- Willing to assist with general maintenance duties outside of locksmith work.
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet to complete work orders.
Qualifications
- 1 year of locksmith experience preferred, but not required.
- We are willing to train the right person.
- General maintenance experience is a plus.
- Experience with lock installation, rekeying, key duplication, or door hardware is helpful.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to qualify under company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Must pass required background screening.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and work in occupied and vacant units.
- This position includes a company work van. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and must qualify under our company vehicle insurance requirements, including a Motor Vehicle Record check.
