Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metal Worker to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and inspecting metal components using a variety of advanced tools and machinery. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, precision measurement skills, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. The Metal Worker will play a vital part in ensuring the quality and safety of our metal products, contributing to efficient production processes in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Operate CNC laser cutting machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and other machining equipment to fabricate metal parts according to specifications.
- Perform welding using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, or arc welding to assemble components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment including press brake machines, stamping presses, plasma cutters, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing specifications.
- Set up and program CNC machinery for precise cutting and machining operations.
- Conduct quality inspections utilizing calipers, micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and visual checks to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Operate forklifts and cranes safely for material handling and movement of heavy components.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in assembly processes as needed, ensuring proper fitment and function of fabricated parts.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
Experience
- Proven experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience with CNC programming, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, EDM machining, and press brake operations is highly desirable.
- Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, or arc welding.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints accurately.
- Familiarity with GD&T standards and quality inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Experience operating forklifts and cranes is a plus but not mandatory; training may be provided.
